Intuitive Eating

Because we have all kinds of eaters around our house, ranging from barely eating to over-indulgent, I personally have felt a little schizophrenic about not only what kinds of foods I should buy, but what kinds of messages I should send to each child about how they eat. There are so many confusing voices in the world surrounding nutrition and health that  it literally can paralyze me and leave me so frustrated I just give up trying.  However, this last week, I  felt like I  found an answer to my health conundrum in this amazing book, Intuitive Eating.   My sister in law Katie recommended it and I think it is such a smart, logical, and true approach to how our bodies work.  The basic premise is that we are biologically built to know how to eat and how much, and we just need to get back in touch with our own body and let it teach us.  I love this approach because it teaches us to trust ourselves and focus on how we feel instead of how much we weigh.  Also it takes away the guilt and shame often associated with nourishing ourselves and allows us to feel satisfied by honoring our hunger.  Life changer!!
