Halloween 2010
I think Sydney is the only one this year that thoroughly embraced Halloween in the traditional sense. She genuinely wanted to dress up for every party and activity. She seemed thrilled to get all types of candy, and loved playing every corny carnival game out there. That's why it is so nice to still have a kid around that doesn't want to grow up too fast. Jackson, on the other hand, had his Quidditch uniform on for a total of about 15 min. and then decided that was all he could handle. He didn't want to go trick or treating and stayed home to pass candy out instead. I had to drag him to the Trunk or Treat, but once there he did have fun on the hay ride and playing soccer with his friends.
McKell made a minimal effort to enjoy Halloween. She was a black-eyed pea, which I thought was pretty creative, but she just didn't have a real gusto for the holiday like she has in years past. I think she is starting to feel she's too old for it, but I think she still enjoys the parties and dressing up. Paige had to work on homework and a talk for church the next day, so she really didn't get much of a Halloween experience this year. She has been so busy with dance and school that it is hard for her to have any down time.
I had a hard time enjoying Halloween this year too. I realized after awhile that it was because Mike is not here. Holidays are just no fun without him. He creates a lot of the fun around our house, and I just can't fill his role as the entertainment specialist. I'm so glad we will have his parents here for Thanksgiving week so grandma can help liven things up for all of us. Mike's supposed to leave Mosul Dec. 26 and hopefully make it home before New Year's. I cannot wait to see him in the flesh, instead of on this computer screen.
Sydney is a beautiful bride! I love how McKell is so creative and came up with the black-eyed pea idea. You don't have long now before Mike will be back. Will you save Christmas for him?
ReplyDeleteThat is funny-I was trying to figure out what McKell was and then it seemed so obvious! Ha ha. She did a great job! My kids totally got into it this year. I'm trying to get Corey to stop trick-or-treating, but she's excited about pretty much everything, so what can I do? I'm glad Mike will be back soon!
