Grandpa Fabrizio
Last night my parents called to tell us that Grandpa passed away. It wasn't a huge shock because he has been running on 25% heart capacity for years, so we knew it could happen anytime, but it still was hard to hear that the end was finally here. Grandma found him on the ground by the treadmill while it was still running. He literally was moving until his last breath. He was one of the most hard working, disciplined, and gentle souls to grace the earth. He and Grandma recently retired at age 84 (83). He loved his routine and hated to break it, unless it involved going out to Tabiona to fish. Most importantly, however, he was a stalwart man of faith, who not only believed in God, but acted upon that belief by serving others and always doing what was asked of him. A few days before he died he spent the day home teaching his three families (they finally cut his list down from 6 or 8 as he started slowing down). His dad, who was Catholic, told him that if he was going to join the Mormon church that he better be a good mormon, not a jack mormon that doesn't do what he's supposed to. I'm sure his dad would agree that Grandpa has always carried himself with integrity, humility, and been a great example of a man with no guile or hypocrisy. We will miss him, but know that one day we will all be reunited again. Can't wait for that Fabrizio reunion in heaven--I'm sure the food will be awesome!!
A great tribute to a great man! I'm sure he will be greatly missed.
