Let The Water Works Begin!

I know my emotions are close to the surface right now, but I have to confess I never dreamed the water works would be starting this soon.  Paige won't be taking off until August, but as we watched her last performance with the Columbus Ballet a few days ago the deluge began!! The final number was set to the over-played song of the year "Let it Go"( which quite honestly has been driving me insane lately), but for whatever reason Paige dancing to that song just sent me over the edge.  The lyrics perfectly sum up Paige's struggles and triumphs these last few years and when it said, "the past is in the past" I just completely lost it.
We have officially started the wrapping up portion of her 18 years--dance recitals, seminary graduation, awards ceremonies, senior dinner, yw graduation, etc.  And there are more endings creeping up this last week of school with the culmination of her high school graduation on Sat. night. I am afraid I might just be a big blubbering mess by the time she gets settled into college.  Nonetheless, I'm not going to turn off the faucet and push my emotions down because I know these are not funeral tears, they are pure joy and love kind of tears, and if I don't let the water trickle out slowly I might burst a pipe. Mike on the other hand likes to avoid feeling the pain of her leaving, so I'm sure we will have some Noah like floods from him in August and I will have to keep the boat rowing and remind him she is not dead,  she's actually soaring!

I'm so proud of her.  She has worked so hard for everything she received!

  1. My eyes are tearing up just reading your post! I am in the same boat as you. How did these past 18 years fly by so quickly? So proud of both of our girls...they are amazing in everything they do and everything they are. I'm sure many tears will be shed on this side of the country, too...
