Spring Break 2015

In Arizona the kids have a 2 week spring break. Their summer is shortened to 6 weeks. And then they get an additional 2 weeks off in October.  I think I might really like that idea! McKell and Mike attended youth conference at an old high school in Superior Arizona.  The theme was service high and they did all sorts of activities around that idea.  McKell is still getting used to her new surroundings, but she was a good sport and went, even though everything inside of her did not want to go.  I think she had a pretty good time, but she still hates dancing with boys.

2 girls in our ward that have befriended McKell:  Paige Barrett and Tatum Dawe
 Young Women Leaders
Cemetery where Mike's young men did service.

Then we headed off to Utah for a week.  Unfortunately our cameras weren't working so we only got a few iphone shots to remember the week by.

We literally dragged the kids out the door to go 4 wheeling in Utah's desert.  I think one of the biggest reasons they fought us is because they were tired, but I also think they like the idea of just relaxing at home in front of a tv or computer.  I'm determined to not let them miss out on life outside the screen world.  It was pretty fun once we got there.  I don't find that part of Utah to be quite as beautiful as Mike does, but it felt good to be out in nature.  I had a little mishap when Sydney tipped us sideways for a minute and my phone slipped out of my pocket.  I didn't realize it was gone until we got back to the car so Mike and I had to hop back on the 4 wheeler to find it.  Luckily it was right where I suspected, but as I got off the 4 wheeler to get it I slid down the incline and got dust and dirt up my backside.  I was happy to have my phone and I chalked it up to a tender mercy and good memory.

Mike and I spent a night alone at the Hotel Monaco in SLC.  We got tickets to the Jazz game from Critter and ran into the Gross's from our Washington days.  Market Street Grill and  Lamb's Grill were both delicious.  We never miss a meal!  Also, we went to the Church's new historical building.  We both love history, so we could have spent hours in there. The kids and my parents joined us at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and we had lunch and went to Meet the Mormons.  It was my kind of day!

Braxton celebrated his 1st birthday at Natalie and Sean's house.  They had it decorated so cute!  Monster's everywhere.  He is adorable.  It is so fun watching Katie be a mom.  She has always loved little kids and she is so good with Braxton.
