Annual Bear Lake Adventure
We have been to Bear Lake almost every summer since Michael and I started dating, and he has gone with his family for umpteen years before that. It is an annual tradition that reminds us of how simple and beautiful life can be. I tend to like traveling to new, exotic places and Mike tends to enjoy going back to the same place every year. With marriage comes compromise and I have come to appreciate the value in going to the same spot every year, and he has taken to the "new places" idea.
As we start the drive through Logan and up Sardine Canyon, the anticipation mounts and the age old questions begin: "Will we be able to get in the water?", "How cold will it be?", "Will there be any beach this year?", "What color will the lake be?", "Can we get a raspberry shake?", "How much longer until we can see the lake?" The initial glimpse of Bear Lake from the summit is one you never forget because not only is it stunningly beautiful, it also replaces whining in the back seat with ooohs and aaahs and over-all good cheer.
This year we had to take a quick, early summer trip to the Lake because of Mike leaving mid June. It was cold and rainy, not much beach, too cold to swim or put the boat in, but the kids still enjoyed riding four-wheelers, playing cards, walking by the lake, sleeping in and of course getting a shake.
Paige and McKell were able to go back up this last weekend where they had a lot more sunshine and water fun. Madison, Ashlyn, Nick, Katie and Grandpa were there too. I am sure they appreciated their nagging parents being absent for this trip. Obviously Jackson and Sydney don't think life is very fair at the moment, so now we are back to listening to whining. Such is life.

Bear Lake has always been a favorite of mine. It is so beautiful and blue. I agree that you definitely have to have a raspberry shake while you're there. I see a lot of stormy clouds in the pictures. I'm glad that the girls got to enjoy some water time the second time.
