Date Night Keeps the Flame Alive!

We are big advocates for date night every week around this house.  Some dates are more memorable than others, but the consistency of knowing we will eventually be alone once a week keeps us not only sane, but happy, passionate, and in love.  Dating is the best investment we have ever made. Not only does it benefit us, the kids seem happier when we get back and sometimes they even surprise us by cleaning up the house for us.
Last week we had one of those memorable dates that begs for documentation. We started out the night by trying out a new restaurant in town called Bone Fish Grill.  The food was excellent, the conversation was too, and we were off to a good start.  As we left the restaurant we noticed huge, black, billowing smoke coming from the uptown area.  We were feeling young and adventurous (which is what happens when you date--another plus) and decided to track down the fire.  When we arrived at the scene we realized the Old Swift Mill was on fire.  There were huge flames and debris flying all around the scene.  There was a gas station right near us and huge pieces of fire and ash were landing near the pumps.  There were people everywhere and we couldn't figure out why the police were not evacuating everyone out of the area.  We felt like we were really being adventurous and living on the edge.
Sometimes all our marriage needs is a few sparks to ignite the flames:   Dressing up, a nice dinner, conversation with your best friend, holding hands, spontaneity, and of course a little bit of danger!!:)

  2. A very cute story. Scott & I need to follow your example & do some date nights. Somehow I don't think my kids would clean the house though ;)
