Nashville

We started out the trip by stopping off at the Etowah Indian Mounds.  My dad just finished reading up on a book about how these civilizations could have possibly been Book of Mormon people.  We literally had to drag the kids out of the car to go.  This was not their idea of vacation.  But once we started looking around I think they really enjoyed it. :)

This mound was the biggest we saw.  It was man-made and would have served as a temple or burial ground.

Loving every minute!

Jackson loved climbing to the top.  We loved watching him climb to the top.

For dinner the first night we met up with the Bass Family at Carabba's.  It was so fun to see them and see how their kids have changed.  Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures because we were in a rush.  Darn! Then we were off to see the Rockettes at  the Grand Ole Opry.

One of my mom's life long dreams was to come to the Grand Ole Opry.

Before the show!

This was taken moments after Grandma started into her very loud rendition of "Your Cheatin' Heart".  She really was feeling the country music vibe.

We splurged and stayed at the Gaylord Opryland Resort.  We were so glad we did.  Everything is enclosed in a green house  environment and it was decorated beautifully for Christmas.  Our only complaint was the kids were far away from us and it felt like we had to walk a mile to get to their room.

Our attempt to get a pic of all of us did not go so well.

Sydney is a sucker for stuffed animals.

The outside was just as amazing as the inside!

Later that day we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame.  I love a good museum!!

This is a full scale replica of the Parthenon in Greece.  Mike decided to strike his best Grecian pose.

McKell is upside down about 80% of the time.

Jackson and Sydney having a moment of fun together swimming at the pool.  Spent a majority of the time arguing about trivial matters:)

Our last night in Nashville we went to Caney Fork restaurant.  We loved it!! The kids had nothing but positive things to say about the place, so it must have been really good because our kids are pretty vocal about anything they don't like.

Jackson showing his giddy side.

We got to cook our own smores after dinner.

Two of my favorite people.

This was our waitress Yvette.  She really liked my dad.  She was hilarious and made the night memorable for all of us!

  1. Looks like a fun trip! You guys packed a lot of things into one weekend. That hotel is amazing. I loved exploring it with Rozanne when Gabs & I were in Nashville. I hope we make it back there before they move away. I cannot believe their 4 years will be up this coming June. The Christmas lights & decorations were very pretty. Is that the same Cracker Barrel we went to that time? I miss eating at the Cracker Barrel. We ate there a lot when we lived in Iowa. Those first pictures of your kids at the Etowah Indian Mounds were hilarious. You can tell they were super excited to be there ;)

  2. It looks like you fit pretty much all the sights in for just a few days. Good job! It was so good to see you all! I am glad you enjoyed Nashville. You've now seen more than we have! :) Pretty sad, huh? We still haven't made it to the Parthenon. I am glad you enjoyed Caney Fork. We have never been there, but I did research on good restaurants and it kept coming up. We decided to stick with something tried and true. Now that you guys have been the guinea pigs, we are going to have to try it. LOL!
