Family Fun in July




 

 With all of the uncertainty in our life right now we decided it would be best to stay home in Georgia for the summer.  This is the first time since we've been married that we haven't gone back to Utah in the summertime.  No Bear Lake, no cabin, no family reunions.  Kind of weird.  So instead some of the family came to us this year.  First,  we had a great time with Katie, Nick, and Braxton.  They came on the 3rd of July and stayed for 10 days.  It was so fun having a baby around.  He's a little bit of a Mama's boy and waled for an hour straight the first time we watched him.  But because he's so cute we didn't mind at all. 

 


 



 

 VEGAS
Mike and I had a mini get away to Las Vegas while Nick and Katie were here because Mike was interviewing with a company there.  We stayed in one of the nicest hotels we've ever been in. While he interviewed I relaxed.  It was awesome!  We also thought we had a Matt sighting at the airport, but turned out to be a false alarm. 
 


 

 


 

Rosemary Beach

Grandma and Grandpa showed up in Georgia the same day Mike and I made it home from Vegas.  So we all drove home together from the airport.  The next morning we were all off to Florida.  The beach house we rented was so beautiful.  Our only regret was not staying longer.

New Year's Eve 2021--Flagstaff

We spent New Year's Eve in Flagstaff with all of the kids and Jonny and Jo. We had a great time playing games, laughing, eating amazing food thanks to Jonny and Paige, and skiing. Everyone got along great and we felt so blessed to have those precious moments all together. The snow was so beautiful and it felt like we were in a dream world. The cold was fun for a few days, but I'm always glad to be back in warmer weather. The only downside to the trip was Jackson got really sick with Covid, and so that was a coincidental repeat from our ski trip last year to Flagstaff when Jackson gave covid to all of us. Luckily Mike, Sydney and I didn't get sick, but the other kids all tested positive. Looking forward to 2022 I told the kids that my word of intention is BELONG! I don't ever want a member of our family to feel like they have to fit in in order to belong. Prom Dresses

The girls found my old prom dresses in the closet and spent a good half hour mocking my taste in clothes. (I just can't understand why, these were really the "in" thing 20 years ago :)Then they tried them on and realized they fit and were even more shocked that I actually used to be their size. They couldn't believe their dad was attracted to me while wearing these dresses. Honestly, I can't believe it either. But I told them they better watch what they say, because what comes around goes around.

Gender Roles

This cook book has changed our lives.  We call it the "golden" book (not to be confused with the golden plates) because everything we make out of this book turns out awesome. (I guess the same could be said  for the golden plates too) I am highly motivated this school year to eat dinner together more often, and because Paige can drive now I am spending less time in the car and more time in the kitchen.  It has been almost magical! This weekend Mike and I also put in this path that took us a good 5 hours or so.  He has had more free time since he's been moonlighting less. I have been wanting to work on this project for a loooong time, so i was excited to see it come to fruition.  There are few things more attractive to a woman than a man with a shovel in his hand and sweat pouring down his face?  He thinks the same thing about me in an apron baking a chocolate cake.  Those distinctive male/female evolutionary roles and instincts run deep.
