October 2016
In October we loved watching lots of football. Jackson started as offensive tackle for the Perry Freshman team. We were so proud of him for not quitting. He had to wake up at 5:00 a.m. every week day morning, and wake up by 6:00 a.m. on Saturdays for three months. He threw up most early morning practices and had to give up his fall break. He played line and learned about blocking and defending the quarterback. Playing line is a thankless job, but a good line can make or break a team. They had a great team and went 9-2 for their season. I learned a lot more about football this year and learned the importance of what lineman do. Mike and I both loved it! The jury is still out for Jackson as to how much he loved it. Ha Ha
Grandpa Park came down to visit us for a couple days. The kids learned he is pretty good at checkers! I learned that Jackson can finally beat me at chess. It's a bittersweet moment when you realize your kids are smarter than you.
McKell and Michael traveled with some of our friends here in Gilbert, the Harris's, to Michigan State to watch the cougars play. Their son Mitch is a long snapper on the team and so they got to go to the hotel and see all of the players and coaches. Mike said he felt like a kid in a candy store. To top it all off the Cougars beat Michigan State in one of the best games ever.
Paige was getting pounded with snow in Georgetown, while we were sweating in Flagstaff over Fall break. It was a girl's weekend and we stayed at the Little America Hotel, which was a little out of date for McKell's taste. It brought back lots of memories for me. We hiked a cool place called Walnut Canyon and saw all of the ruins from Native Americans who once lived there in the cliffs.

Mike and I also spent some much needed time alone in Sedona, AZ. It's such a unique and beautiful place. It was nice to experience a little bit of an actual Fall, because we don't get Fall until January here.
We finished our last night of the trip with onion rings, a milkshake and mud pie at Red Robin. It tasted so good!!
Katie and Nick came for a visit and we got to watch Braxton for a couple of days. It was so fun to have him here. It made us feel young again!
Sydney still loves Halloween. She and Grace were emojis together.
