Allergies

With the onset of Spring we have seen a whole new category of pollen here in Georgia that we have never experienced. The pollen is so thick and abundant that it literally coats everything like a yellow powdered layer of snow. This has been especially fun for me since I deal with hay fever. I literally have gone through hundreds of tissues, rubbed my itchy eyes raw, and for the first time took medication for it. I have to decide if I would rather feel drowsy or itchy (drowsy is winning out right now). Here are some pictures of the barbeque I have cleaned off three times now.


On the upside, the weather has been absolutely beautiful and we have found some new favorite spots around our house where we enjoy lounging. After pounding or dusting off the layer of pollen on our new deck furniture and hammock, we have read scriptures, watched the red cardinals and yellow warblers swoop onto the bird feeder, had family night lessons and life lesson talks, watched the sunset and fireflies, and most importantly reconnected. I'll gladly endure the sneezing and sleepiness if it means I get to hear the laughter and chatter of my family and watch the stars with my husband under a quiet black sky.

    I love your patio furniture. I wish we had a covered porch in the back yard. Maybe we would spend more time outside! Crazy about the pollen.

    Just looking at the pollen makes me sneeze! I know the feeling of rubbing your eyes raw...NOT FUN! So fun to spend time outside though. We've had some nice days here in WA, but still waiting for consistent nice weather...can't wait!

    Love the new furniture! It sounds so dreamy! We need to make better use of our deck...you are inspiring me. Our weather has been beautiful also. I do love watching the birds also. The pollen will be better soon...it is similar here.

In September we had our high school friend Bo Ross and his wife Jodi come and stay with us for a few days.  They're so down to earth and easy to talk to.  When Brandon and Mike get together they go back into their fun joking bantering mode.  I love seeing Mike let loose a little.  We laughed and talked and ate and to top it all off enjoyed an amazing night of John Mayer together. New Year's Eve 2021--Flagstaff

We spent New Year's Eve in Flagstaff with all of the kids and Jonny and Jo. We had a great time playing games, laughing, eating amazing food thanks to Jonny and Paige, and skiing. Everyone got along great and we felt so blessed to have those precious moments all together. The snow was so beautiful and it felt like we were in a dream world. The cold was fun for a few days, but I'm always glad to be back in warmer weather. The only downside to the trip was Jackson got really sick with Covid, and so that was a coincidental repeat from our ski trip last year to Flagstaff when Jackson gave covid to all of us. Luckily Mike, Sydney and I didn't get sick, but the other kids all tested positive. Looking forward to 2022 I told the kids that my word of intention is BELONG! July thru Dec. 2021--Berkeley to Christmas

July thru Dec. 2021 We helped Paige move her stuff into her new little apartment in Oakland.  She is officially all grown up!!  We loved walking around the campus and seeing the historic architecture and grounds. Her studio apartment is small, but cozy.   Michael, Jackson and Hugh went on the fishing trip of a lifetime to the Sawtooth Mountains.  They went in on horseback and had guides that helped them cook, fish and camp.  I was so happy to see Michael fulfill this dream with his dad and son!   McKell spent the month of August at a beach house with her friend Kate.  They loved it! Mike and I celebrated our 30 year (actually 31 because of Covid) high school reunion in Utah.
