Camping in July in Georgia is Not the Best Idea

This last week was girl's camp for our stake. It was so miserably hot. I only stayed for one night and I was so ready to come home after lying awake all night, watching spiders jump on my bed, and literally sweating the entire time. With the temp. at 100 and the humidity so high it was pretty tough to be there. The army even sent all soldiers in doors one of the days at Fort Benning because they said the heat was too dangerous to be in. No one found that out until the day after otherwise they probably would have cut camp short.
Paige didn't know any of the girls in her cabin and they were extremely shy, so she had a hard time the first few days. She wanted to come home with me (and I couldn't really blame her), but I encouraged her to stay and she did. Even though it was hard on her, she endured it well and had some good spiritual moments. We thought a lot about the pioneers and all that they had to endure. I don't know if I would have made it back then. My idea of camping is roasting marshmallows and showering and sleeping in a cabin. I guess you could call me a big, fat, WIMP!!!

  1. Wow! I don't think I could have survived the heat. I wilt easily. Good job, Paige, for sticking it out!
