Summer Movies

I don't think I will be winning any awards for creative pursuits with my kids this summer. We have seen so many (too many) movies that I seriously can't even remember all that we have seen in the last 2 months. There are several reasons why the movie theater is alluring: 1) The kids all want to go and no one is usually whining. 2) The most work I have to do is handing my credit card to the cashier (or maybe signing for it is harder). 3) It is dark, quiet, and no one is asking me for any thing. 4) I don't have to make any decisions for an hour and a half.
Tonight Jackson, Syd and I went to "Ramona and Beezus" while the two older girls went to "Charlie St. Cloud." I really loved the movie's message about family and the portrayal of loving creative parents who find ways to help their mischievous daughter Ramona feel happy about who she is. When her dad paints the longest picture in the world with her, I realized that maybe I should be doing more activities with my own kids rather than just watching actors do activities with their pretend kids on the movie screen. Hopefully this last week of summer will be memorable for reasons other than us seeing the newest flick in the theater. Wish us luck!!

  3. We've seen a lot of movies this summer too. We might have to go see Ramona and Beezus now too. We've also found that bowling works for everyone...we've done that several times.
