Surprises

Some of the best surprises are simple things in life. This tree, which I think is a crepe myrtle, has only had green leaves on it until a few weeks ago when all of the pink flowers started popping out on it. And the other bush out front is a lilac bush, I think. It smells awesome and the purple buds are so pretty. (I need my green thumb friends to clue me in on what plants are in my yard.) All of these plants were put in by our builder, so we had no idea they would bloom like they have.

Another surprise for the day was Sydney and Jackson getting along and playing outside together. I guess you just never know what a new day will bring!!

  1. I'm not sure what those flowers are, but they sure are beautiful.

  2. I think you are correct on the crape myrtle. They are one of the few late summer/fall blooming trees. They are also a good tree for the South because they are very mildew resistant. I need to get me some. I just noticed some beautiful ones in our neighborhood today. As far as the other one, I don't think it's a lilac, but it could be. It almost looks like a butterfly bush, but the leaves looks different, so I don't know.

  3. That is funny, Rozanne. I was also thinking that the purple one was a butterfly bush, but then noticed the leaves are different. Wonder what it is??
