King George III
Jackson's class presented a wax museum yesterday, where each of them dressed up as a different character from history, memorized a speech, and pretended to come alive as that character. Jackson was assigned King George iii. We have since learned that he enjoys being a king. Not sure if it is the power, wealth, or prestige that he is drawn to, but he felt very comfortable in this role. He threw himself into the project, even using the hot glue gun to make his costume. He decided to go for the British accent as well and amazingly pulled it off. Sydney also loved dressing up in his outfit and memorized his speech as well.
Many parents put a lot of time and effort into some of the costumes. My favorite, besides Jackson's of course, was Elizabeth Caty Stanton. I've always had a special place in my heart for the women's right movement. Napoleon and George Washington were great too.
By the end of the hour Jackson was ready to be done. He had delivered the same speech about 10 times, he was sweating from the crown, and standing in one place (without a screen in front of him) proved to be a real challenge. I think he realized being a king isn't as easy as it appears.

It's great to see how imaginative kids can be when it comes to these type of projects. What a great looking group!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Lots of great costumes including Jackson! Funny how he kind of liked the role of king. I think a lot of kids think it would be fun to be in charge, but leadership certainly isn't nearly as fun as it looks. :)
