New Found Freedom
Paige has had to wait a couple extra weeks to get her license, but yesterday I took her down to the DMV and she passed her driving test with flying colors. She was very happy, and I was too. Then she started to realize that now all of the responsibility for driving is on her. She could possibly get in an accident and wreck the car. She will have to actually figure out where she is without us telling her where to turn. Paige does not like to make mistakes, so this new found freedom can feel a little scary.
Mike and I also feel a little trepidation sending her out into the streets alone, but we understand that this is the only way she will learn how to be independent of us. I loved the talk from Elder Wilson this past conference where he said,
"Wise parents prepare their children to get along without them. They provide opportunities for growth as children acquire the spiritual maturity to exercise their agency properly. And yes, this means children will sometimes make mistakes and learn from them."
Congrats Paige! We are still waiting for Corey to get her license. That girl is dragging her feet. I think she just does not want to have to drive Gabby to dance. Sigh.
